iApprove: One Square Foot.

October 9, 2008

Frustrated about the environment?  Wish there was something you could do to help?

Now you can.

At One Square Foot, a few minutes of your time each day can help preserve the rainforest, simply by playing a trivia game.  Every nine questions you answer correctly will enable the organization to purchase a single square foot of rainforest.  That’s one square foot that won’t be destroyed.  It may not seem like much, but it’s easy to save between fifteen and twenty square feet in about half an hour, and every foot helps.  You don’t have to sign up or pay for anything; the only downside is that the site doesn’t work very well with Firefox.  (It works fabulously with Opera, though.)

Lest you wonder whether the rainforest really needs saving, let me point this out: Earth’s environment is a delicate balance.  Drastic changes in one region – in this case, the rainforest – can cause enormous climatic changes in other parts of the world.  In other words, if we destroy the rainforests, the entire planet is going to suffer for it.

So, just a few minutes of your time for the future of your planet.  Is that too much to ask?
